We’ve got a special children’s competition for the younger ones this half term – can they come up with a tale or image that tells the story of the Dragon and Sleeping Giantess down in the Dalemain Low Garden?

We would love to know what you think their story is – are they fierce or friendly? Who are they? Why are they sleeping there and what do they get up to when the visitors have left Dalemain’s gardens each day?

Explore the garden and use your imagination to create their tale in story or poetry. Could you draw an amazing picture to reveal their secrets?

You can hand your finished story, poem or picture to the shop or email us or even tag us in an Instagram post. We will judge each entry and announce a grand winner.

But be careful – who knows what you might find in the lair of the dragon?
