Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens OPEN for 2018!
Following the excitement of a very successful 13th Marmalade Awards & Festival we are delighted to be opening our doors for the coming season! The Mansion will be open 10.30am – 3.30pm for guided tours & freeflow every Sunday – Thursday. Please see our Times & Prices page for more information.
For one week only we are pleased to be displaying the 3,000 entries received into the Marmalade Awards throughout the ground floor state rooms. Come and visit us to see marmalades from all over the world including Japan, India, Kenya and Brazil, with our Marmalade Alter in pride of place displaying the 2018 winners. If you can’t make it to Dalemain this week but are marmalade mad, have no fear – our Marmalade Museum is open throughout the season as part of the tour and is full of our most exceptional entries, details about how the Awards have taken off around the world and lots of fascinating marmalade facts!
Our wonderful guides are back with more fascinating stories and facts about the house, and will be guiding visitors through eight centuries of history, from its origins as a Pele Tower, to defend against the Border Reivers, to its history as a Georgian family home. Dalemain has been home to the Hasell family since 1679 and this has given the mansion a completely unique history – visitors are walking through not a museum, but a living, vibrant building that continues to be a much loved family home to this day.
Our Mediaeval Hall Tearoom will be open and serving a delicious variety of homemade meals and cakes, including our unbeatable scones and famous marmalade ginger cake. The tearoom, gardens and shop are open Sunday – Thursday 10am – 4.30pm so do pay us a visit!
We’ve got lots of exciting events happening this year, with Plant Fairs, art exhibitions, Car Shows, Hikes and more all taking place at Dalemain this season. We look forward to welcoming all of our visitors to Dalemain, for a wonderfully unique day out.
