Garden Volunteer Week
We are looking for volunteers to help the Dalemain Gardening Team from Monday 2nd October to Friday 6th October. Through the course of this week, we hope to work on clearing and planting the Kitchen Garden, bringing it back to its former glory!
If you are a complete novice to gardening, we would still love your help! It will be a great opportunity to learn more about gardening, and a wonderful platform for conversation and discussion between green-fingered friends!
The week would begin with a garden tour in order to familiarise everyone with the garden. This will be followed by a team briefing on what we would like to achieve during the week, and an overview of the project as a whole.
We would like volunteers to arrive between 9am to 5pm. It is possible to opt to come for a whole day, or just for part of the day, and for as many or few days of the week as you can. Plenty of breaks will be provided, as well as a delicious Dalemain lunch in the private kitchen.
We are also offering a free tour of the house for those who are interested, and free plants for you to take home and cultivate in your own garden.
Work in the Kitchen Garden
Our main work in the Kitchen Garden during Garden Volunteer Week will be to:
- Plant a timeline from the Roman Apple to the present day, incorporating a wide selection of fruit trees
- Sort out the borders in the Kitchen Garden
- Clearing the Nursery Garden in order to plant heritage vegetables
