A fascinating opportunity to study herbal remedies collected by Elizabeth Rainbow, wife of the Bishop of Carlisle and aunt of Edward Hasell in the 1690s


We are delighted to be offering this unique and in depth workshop, which will provide insight into herbal remedies through the eyes of Elizabeth Rainbow, an ancestor of the current Hasell-McCosh family who lived at Dalemain at the end of the 17th century. This workshop is being led by Frances Wilkins, archivist and author of ‘Elizabeth Rainbows Flora’, in partnership with Jane Hasell-McCosh, owner of Dalemain.

This workshop will include:

  • An illustrated lecture
  • A tour of the beautiful Dalemain herb garden with owner Jane Hasell-McCosh
  • A wild herb workshop with Frances Wilkins
  • Full ‘Elizabeth Rainbow’ themed Afternoon Tea in the Mediaeval Hall Tearoom
  • The opportunity to purchase signed copies of Frances Wilkin’s new book ‘Elizabeth Rainbow’s Flora’
