The World’s Original Marmalade Awards are back! Yesterday, we launched the 2018 Marmalade Awards at Australia House in London by kind permission of HE The Hon Alexander Downer AC. It was also a celebration of the second Australian Marmalade Festival which was held in September this year. Jane Hasell-McCosh was asked to judge, and thought it was a great success.

We had a wonderful evening, with marvellous canapés prepared for us by patron and dear friend, Dan Lepard. We were very happy to have some delicious Marmalade Popcorn kindly provided by Joe & Seph’s, which sat perfectly alongside our marmalade cocktails which used J&B Whisky for that extra kick.

The 2018 Marmalade Awards will open for entries soon and this year, there are a few new categories being introduced, including Commonwealth Marmalade. This category is open to anyone in a Commonwealth country, and we would really like to see as many countries as possible represented! Not only will the winner of this category be able to claim their country as the best for marmalade in the Commonwealth, but they will have their marmalade commercially produced and sold with a percentage of the proceeds going to charity.

So far, the Marmalade Awards have raised over £200,000 for palliative care charities around the world, and we hope this year will see even more fundraising for this important cause.

2018 will also see the return of the Marmalashes, a fiercely-fought contest between ‘teams’ of marmalade from Australia and the UK. Making a special appearance alongside our judges this year will be a member of the CWA, who is flying from Sydney to join us. We are very much looking forward to hearing her thoughts on our British marmalades! If you would like more information about the Awards, or to be added to our mailing list to get updates sent to you, please email Florence Lindeman at
