We wrote a post recently about our launch of the 2018 World’s Original Marmalade Awards, which took place on 31st October at Australia House. The event was both a launch party for the 13th World’s Original Marmalade Awards and a celebration of the second Australian Festival of Marmalade, which took place in Riverland, Adelaide, in September.
The evening was a wonderful success and a celebration of marmalade in all its forms, with marmalade canapes (including the wonderful Joe & Seph’s Marmalade popcorn!), marmalade cocktails and of course, most importantly a huge range of marmalade enthusiasts all keen to discuss this most versatile of preserves. There were a number of passionate speakers who shared their different experiences of the Marmalade Awards, beginning with HE The Hon Alexander Downer AC who was the guest of honour at the Awards in 2016 and helped to judge the Marmalashes. He was followed by Mr Edward Harley, former president of the HHA and longterm supporter of the Awards. Patron Dan Lepard then introduced Louisa Barnett who has helped to found the fantastic charity The Hands Up Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for those affected in Syria. Awards founder and number one marmalade fan Jane Hasell-McCosh spoke to thank everyone for attending the evening and for their continued support of the Awards & Festival.
All of the speakers shared something wonderful and special about marmalade, and we are delighted that these speeches were captured, along with other moments throughout the evening, and are available to view here:
We hope that everyone watching will enjoy the speakers and the insight into another wonderful launch. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Marmalade Festival on 17th March!
