Winter Preparations in the Garden
It is hard to believe that December has arrived and we are saying goodbye to another year. Before we close Dalemain for the winter, we have to put the garden to bed!
This has involved wrapping up the tree ferns, almost like wrapping a blanket around a sleeping child.
It has been wonderful to welcome guests back to the Medieval Hall for our Christmas Lunches, for which our gardens have provided the perfect decorations.
To help us all get into the festive spirit I have decorated the Mansion with vases of Euphorbia and Holly, a perfect homegrown Christmas decoration!
We have also created an exciting partnership with Aira Force Tearoom, to help them reduce their waste, they are providing us with their coffee grounds. The coffee grounds help to deter the mice and other wildlife from eating the bulbs without causing them harm. The secondary bonus to their use is that it creates a rich aroma of coffee as guests walk past the magnificent Silver Fir!
