Open Sunday – Thursday (including bank holidays)

 

Mansion 10.30 am to 3.30 pm
Gardens, Shop & Tearoom 10.00 am to 4.30 pm

 

The Mansion is open with guided tours Sunday – Wednesday (tours are approximately every hour, please visit the shop on arrival for further information, or email houseopening@dalemain.com)

For visitors that do not wish to take a guided tour, the Mansion is open ‘Freeflow’ every Thursday. Freeflow entry also takes place Monday – Thursday from 2.30pm.

Tour times and openings may vary, so please check the website for any changes.

We are pleased to announce that the Gardens & Tearooms will be open & serving takeaway food every Friday May – September from 11am – 3pm.


We regret that dogs are not permitted in the House or Gardens. They are however very welcome in the courtyard, where we have sheltered seating for the tearoom, and on the estate walk to Dacre.

We offer a number of exclusive tours throughout our summer season here at Dalemain for visitors wanting to go behind the scenes for something a bit special. Dalemain, near Ullswater in the Lake District, is a haven of tranquillity. Come and take some time out from the hectic stress of every day life, and spend a while strolling through the house and gardens in this peaceful corner of the Lake District. Why not combine your visit to the Gardens with a walk through the Estate Parkland? It is one mile from Dalemain Mansion’s Historic Courtyard to the Ancient Dacre Church.   • Disabled drivers may drive into the courtyard and park their car.
  • Due to the historic building there is no access to the first floor except via the stairs.
  • The gardens are accessible (excluding the lower garden) to wheel chairs although the gravel paths can be uneven.
  • A mobility scooter is available at the Gift Shop – it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • The Courtyard area is grade one listed cobbles and can be quite uneven.
  • Disabled toilets are available in the toilet blocks.
