It’s just over a week until the World’s Original Marmalade Festival returns home to Dalemain. We hope you’re all ready to go orange!

We’ve been busy making plans to ensure that this will be the stickiest and biggest marmalade extravaganza yet! Sadly, owing to the terrible weather and storm Gareth, we have had to cancel the stalls in the historic courtyard, but there will be lots of indoor activities, with cookery demonstrations from experts such as Will Torrent, Dan Lepard and Belinda Hill, who will be teaching us how to make marmalade chocolate, tarts, ice cream and more! We’ve also got talks, marmalade Q&As, entertainment and music that will inspire you, your family and friends to take the nation’s marmalade to your heart.

The Dalemain Festival is supported by Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce, who will be providing Classic Coaches to take visitors between Penrith and Dalemain, as well as organising lots of exciting orange windows & special offers in town.

We are delighted to be welcoming the festival back to its home, Dalemain Mansion. We have lots of exciting activities in store, with marmalade-mad entertainment including juggling and the ‘Marma-lympics’, singers, lectures and much more. See a human fruit machine, learn how to make marmalade & toast ice cream and find out what makes the world’s worst marmalade with head judge Dan Lepard.

As always, we will have hundreds of delicious Artisan marmalades from all over the world available to taste and buy, with displays of thousands of Homemade Marmalades in the state rooms. We are delighted to announce that everyone’s favourite marmalade loving bear Paddington will of course be at the Festival, and we’re sure he’s looking forward to tasting 100s of marmalades from all over the world, and to making friends with marmalade lovers old and new!

We have a full programme of events for the weekend, which can be downloaded HERE: To book or reserve tickets for any of these events, please email Florence at marmalade@dalemain.com. The proceeds of these events will all go to Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland

Please note that as this is an outdoor Festival and the weather may be inclement, wellies are a must! In addition to the Classic coaches we will also be operating a park-and-ride scheme from PF&K, which is conveniently located a 5 minute drive from Dalemain. Shuttle buses will be running all day from 9am – 4pm between PF&K and Dalemain.
